Great experience over all! He is straight forward, and lays everything out on the table for you. He's always bright and optimistic but doesn't shy away from talking about all the possible complications like so many other doctors will do, especially for a surgery as major as a colon resection, I appreciated that the most. Luckily he is a good enough surgeon that I didn't even need to worry about the worst case scenarios. He also has a great team around him, I was getting multiple checks ups a day in the hospital, from his surgical team and prompt follow ups to check on my condition after I was out with his great PA and staff. Best part is he does this all while coming off like a normal guy, doesn't have his head in the clouds or nose in the air like so many other medical professionals I've seen. 3 months post surgery now and he's helped me to feel better then I have in years. Would definitely recommend!

I'd like to share a extremely positive experience I Had with Dr. Rivadeneira and his entire staff back in 2022. I had been dealing with a 3rd bout of Diverticulitis that landed me in the hospital for a week while away on a family vacation around the holidays. The ER Dr's told me I was lucky that I did not need emergency surgery but advised as soon as I get home to see a surgeon about having the bad part of my colon resected. I was referred by a family member who had a similar experience that had a positive outcome with Dr. R. My first visit I knew I was in the right hands. Further confidence built by my interactions with nurses in the hospital where he was going to do the surgery. They had nothing but great things to say about him. Dr. R was honest and upfront about the surgery and potential outcomes. I came through the surgery well with no bag and have been 100% since. I highly recommend Dr R. Reach me via email if you need any guidance.

Dr Rivadeneira recommended banding for my hemorrhoids. I found that banding was a simple, 10 second, painless procedure, it resolved my hemorrhoid issues. I recommend

If you need to have colorectal surgery, Dr. Rivadeneira is the doctor you want doing the surgery. He is professional courteous and personable. He informs you of the risks and rewards of the procedure. He also listens to you concerns and puts you at ease. His skill as a surgeon was outstanding. Huntington Hospital was a really nice hospital and his support staff was excellent. Thank you Dr. Rivadeneira for improving my quality of life!

I have experienced a prolapsed rectum and after much attempts of dealing with this situation I requested Dr. Rivaeneira to preform a repair. I wasn't able to walk any real distance or preform any real acts of daily living. My bowel and bladder elimination were
all messed up. Post repair surgery I left the hospital the next day and had minimal discomfort. It took about a week to start eliminating stool - I was on a liquid / soft diet.
I cannot say enough about having this repair. It added total quality back to my life.
I am a retired Oncology Nurse and need to share my experience with Dr. Rivadeneira.
12 years ago I had a routine colonoscopy which revealed a very early malignancy in a polyp.
I had a colon resection and have been Cancer free since. My recovery was speedy with no complication.
This doctor is warm, friendly and very reassuring - I can't praise him enough.

I want to thank you for saving me. I was experiencing extreme intestinal problems. For several years I was told I had severe Diverticulosis. In the past months the pain became unbearable to the point I didn't want to eat to avoid additional pain.

My PCP recommended me to your office. Your review and explanation of my conditions was detailed and explained in a way I could understand and relate to. You explained what I surgical procedure I would require and that I would not require a bag which was a big concern. The surgery was a little tough. I had 2 surgeries at once the sigmoid colon retraction along with removal of part of my intestine. . I am now 2months later with no eating restrictions, no bag , I go to the bathroom without pain or pressure. and most of all able to eat and sleep like I use to.

Thank you Dr. Rivadeneira

I first met Dr. Rivadeneira when I was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. It was a very frightening time for me. But, from our first meeting he calmed my fears with his kind and understanding manner. He listened ad answered all my questions. Also, he has a marvelous sense of humor. A trait I greatly admire. I was not a patient. I was family. He is a learned doctor/surgeon. His impressive C.V. is an understatement. His 'team' is equally impressive. I do believe Dr. Rivadeneira's mission is saving lives. I know, because he saved both my life and my quality of life.

I went to see Dr. Rivadeneira after a large lipoma was detected from a routine colonoscopy. During my first visit, Dr Rivadeneira tried to figure out a way for me not to have to go through surgery. He sent me to a more invasive gastroenterologist who confirmed it must be removed via a colon resection. I never hesitated at his expertise. My surgery went well and my recovery was very easy. My scar is healing beautifully. This doctor has a great personality which makes you very comfortable and relaxed before surgery. Dr Rivadeneira is AMAZING!!!!

Yesterday, Dr. Rivadeneira and I said "Farewell" after what seems like a long relationship from Fall 2020 to June 2021. When no one in upstate NY would take my case (due to it's complexity) I sought treatment at NYU, but wasn't 100% happy with the Dr. I met there. I have a childhood friend who works for Northwell Health and he began asking other doctors in the network, "Who would you go to if you had to fix a rectovaginal fistula?" He kept getting the same answer, "Dr. R" So I drove 3 hours, back and forth to receive the most outstanding care from Dr. R and his team. My fistula was at a very rare spot; at sphincter muscle and no one wanted to cut into sphincter. Obviously, if cut wrong, loss of control can happen and God forbid a colostomy bag to follow.
So Dr R made a safe decision to first insert a seton drain (which I lived with from December to March 1st) The idea was to strengthen the tissue so that it would be in better shape for cutting a flap and finally fixing the fistula. This surgery, given the sensitive area, is incredibly hard to recover from just due to always using that area/muscle daily. The success rate isn't the highest, but I am one of the success stories. I believe Dr. R taking the time to try the seton drain first made all the difference. He has the best bed side manner. He is kind and attentive and makes a difficult, embarrassing process, more comfortable for his patients. I can't say enough about Northwell Health. They are like a well oiled machine. My stay at Huntington Hospital was top notch; likened to a nice hotel stay. I cried yesterday when he stated that I was healed. This issue has been ongoing and uncomfortable for over a year. He gave me my life back! No more chronic pain. No more discomfort, depends, donut pillows to sit on, or stand up desk at work!
I can't say thank you enough!
