Psychiatrist

A psychiatrist is a physician who specializes in treating mental disorders and is trained in psychotherapy and diagnostic evaluation. Psychiatrists are one of the few professionals in the field of mental health who are able to prescribe medication, order brain imaging studies and laboratory tests, and conduct physical examinations. There are many subspecialties of psychiatry, including forensic psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, neuropsychiatry and addiction psychiatry.
