My mother Rachel's experience:

I had him as a psychiatrist 8 years ago. When I first went to speak with him, I was really nervous and so began to rattle off my experiences with what I assumed was a mental illness. He never acknowledged anything I said and kept typing at his computer. Then he proceeded to interrupt me by saying, "I know what you have. You haven't shut up the whole time you were here." I was appalled, and even more so when he misdiagnosed me with ADHD without regard to the content of my talks with him and proceeded to prescribe me a multitude of unnecessary medications. Whenever I met with him, we barely talked before he gave me a script. Whenever I needed to speak with him, he blew me off. Once I came in after being blown off and waited for an hour to meet him. When at last he came out of his office and behind the front desk and the receptionist told him that I was still waiting, he said loud enough for me to hear, "She can wait." I was so angry that I confronted him behind the desk and told him how terrible of a doctor he was and that he hadn't helped me at all. I said I no longer wanted to be his patient and he said he didn't want me to be his patient, and I said that was fine. I have since found a doctor that has diagnosed me properly 8 years after I decided to seek help from this inept a**hole, and have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I strongly recommend not seeing this psychiatrist. You will come out worse than you had started.

I am being treated for bipolar and major depression, under his care for over a year, He is very discreet, kind gentle elder man, I just wish there could be more time to express your feeling more. My insurance paid him a hour I only get ten to twenty minutes is that ok?

I've been seeing Dr. Mitchell for fifteen years. He is a true professional. Not only does he listen to my concerns, he speaks to me as a peer--not at all condescendingly, like some physicians. He has an unsurpassed knowledge of mental health--and has been particularly helpful in treating my treatment-resistant depression.

Dr. Mitchell is also very discreet--we happen to run into each other often at social functions, yet he never acts as if he knows me unless I initiate contact. Might seem like a small thing to some, but in my mind it's yet another indication of professionalism.

Their staff is the most friendly, welcoming staff I've ever dealt with. They are so warm and professional, and make the whole experience that much better. I was worried that they were going to wear an obnoxious cologne, because I've dealt with that at other places, but they didn't even wear cologne. It was fantastic to be able to breathe freely the entire time. I feel like they go out of their way to accommodate my schedule. I always get the appointment time I want. I didn't have to spend a lot of time in the waiting room at all. I only spent a couple of minutes in there. One of the first things I noticed about this business was how many different areas of the building were handicap-accessible. I have been to other places where I couldn't tell how someone in a wheelchair could even enter, but they really spent a lot of time to accommodate people with all different needs.
