They try not to, but sometimes it happens.

I, personally, have never had a problem with Dr. Valko. He is very attentative to what is going on with me and in helping me. However, it was an entirely different story with my daughter. He was rude, confrontational, and jumped at her after she had been hospitalized- because according to him "He doesn't hospitalize patients". The hospitalization was encouraged by the therapist she was seeing in the office. When she got confrontational, he told her not to come back to the office ever! This is NOT the way I would think you should treat patients!

My son sees Dr. Valko for some mental health issues. He has seen a couple of psychiatrists in the past, and Dr. Valko really seems to "get" my son. He listens when we tell him how things are going. He is also very insightful about the mind of adolescents, which is very useful. He has returned my phone calls within a very reasonable time when I have called, and his office has been relatively accomodating with scheduling appointments around my work schedule. (I am also a physician). Overall, I am very pleased with Dr. Valko. My son is not too fond of him personally, but that is because Dr. Valko (rightly) confronts/challenges his less than accurate perceptions of reality. It is refreshing to see a psychiatrist really challenge an adolescent about their issues in an effort to get them to think outside the box. Treating adolescents is a tough job, and I believe that Dr. Valko is doing an excellent job.

I always have the best experience every time I have an appointment here. Although I have not had much to complain about, I have noticed that they strongly adhere to the customer is always right policy and if anything goes wrong make every effort to correct the situation. They are one of the most polite, respectful people I've ever met. I've been other places that left me unattended for quite awhile, but not here. They would never leave me unattended and they always go the extra mile to make me feel cared for. Their entire office was immaculate. It was obvious that they took very good care of it.

I felt very ignored during my appointment. They didn't give me their full attention. They definitely favor certain clients, and make an extra effort to help those clients. I was afraid that they wouldn't help me if they didn't like me. They never take that extra step to make me feel special. I haven't ever felt that they care enough to get to know me and that I'm almost an irritation.
