This oral surgeon does not take insurance and does not tell you up front that they don't. They tell you to bring $400 and your insurance card. They don't tell you the costs or even give you a range or idea of what the cost will be -- knowing they don't take insurance -- but lead you to believe insurance is somehow involved. They take your insurance card and submit as a courtesy although because they don't take insurance, they charge $3,535 for a simple wisdom tooth extraction which insurance agrees to pay $1500. for. But the catch -- THEY DON'T TAKE INSURANCE so can charge whatever they want but don't tell you until you get the bill and then you find out insurance only will pay the standard fee for 4 extractions which is $1500. I would have gone somewhere else had I known and only went because the dentist referred me there. DO NOT GO HERE. They say they use a national average price. BlueBookHealth says the average cost is from $800 to $1920 for 4 teeth -- $1920 for a complicated, bony extraction . THEY CHARGE $3535 TO PULL 4 TEETH which was for a simple extraction. It took an hour or less. If they do 8 extractions a day 5 days a weeks that's $141,000 a week or $7,352,800 a year. SERIOUSLY!!!!!!! I feel they intentionally leave out details and then say it's your responsibility. Had I known they don't take insurance, I would have done more investigating but when they say bring your insurance card and your insurance pays 80%, you assume 80% will be paid.
