Dr Lavine is an excellent surgeon. He is very busy and it is true that you often have to wait a long time on appointments. His staff leaves a lot. To be desired but my bottom line is I trust Lavine with my life

Dr. Lavine performed ankle surgery and put in a metal plate for my father, and did an excellent job. He answered all my questions, was courteous and helpful in followup.

Dr. Lavine ordered an MRI and his office was able to help me find a place to get the study done the same day. His office staff helped get authorization for my procedure/surgery efficiently and got me to surgery quickly. Very happy with his care before and after the surgery.

Thankful he was so skilled and close to home.

If Dr. Lavine was the last doctor in the world, I would not go see him. His lack of consideration and respect for his patients is zero. I expect to wait a reasonable amount of time at a doctor's office but in the case of Dr. Lavine's the wait is unconscionable. I made a follow up appointment for a fracture metatarsal in his Alexandria office (very near my home) that unfortunately does not have X rays on site so I had to go to Mt. Vernon Hospital with his order which did not include a diagnosis. I called the office and asked them to fax the hospital an order with the necessary information. They did with a diagnosis that was not accurate, they said "pain" when it should have been a "follow up for a francture metatarsal". The X ray was taken so yesterday May 22 I went for my appointment at 1:00. I arrived at 12:45 and it was at 1:45 when I overhead the receptionist say that the doctor was just leaving D.C. I told them I could not wait (as we patients also have a life that includes other appointments) and requested another appointment and his staff gave me an appointment in the Washington office for today May 23rd at 2:15. I drove 16 miles to his office, parked the car in a parking lot (extra gas, extra money) and arrived at 2:00 when one patient was called in to the examining room. Great, I thought, he is here and on time. Half an hour later the lady came out and said she had been sitting in the examining room for half an hour and no doctor. When I questioned the receptionist, she said the doctor will be arriving in about 10-15 minutes. I went out to wait for him in the hall and when he finally showed up at 3:05, he slowly strolled out of the elevator and when I said to him that he lacked consideration for his patients, he told me to go find someone else. Music to my ears as that was exactly what I was going to do. I requested that I b e given my records and the receptionist took her time until I asked why the delay, I was told that she needed anuthorization from another staff member who was in the ladies room!!!! I asked that the records be mailed to me. No idea when that will be done. The saying goes "The fish rots from the head down"

I was able to get an appointment okay. I arrived for my appointment. After waiting 30 minutes I was shown in to the room, which was very hot. I had to plug in and turn a fan on, as well as ask for water. The hazardous waste basket was overflowing. After another 30 minutes the receptionist came in and said it would be another 15-20 minutes because the doctor was in surgery. They could have called beforehand to let me know the doctor would not be available for my scheduled appointment. I ended up waiting 1 hour and 40 minutes before the doctor finally arrived. He was nice enough and provided the information I needed. It certainly wasn't worth the wait.
