A hematologist is a medical professional who specializes in treating blood conditions and diseases. They study all aspects of the blood and the tissues and organs that create blood including bone marrow and the spleen. A hematologist may work in a variety of environments including blood banks, clinics, or laboratories. hematologists can also diagnose and treat genetic blood disorders including thalassemia and hemophilia.
