To me, being a nurse practitioner in the pain center is more than just treating a diagnosis or prescribing medications. Instead, it is treating the whole patient and not just their pain. I am obligated to present all available treatment options, which may include a multidisciplinary team. Every patient is an active participant in their treatment plan and pain management. It is my hope that the patient will reach their highest level of function with the least amount of pain interference.
