Shannon Howe, MD, is a rheumatologist who finds her patients are unique in their ability to find solutions to their own issues and enjoys working with them to problem solve together. Originally, she went into nursing and beside caregiving, which set her up for being a physician. “I am still awed by the human body,” she said. She loves to treat gout, rheumatoid arthritis and those things “that one cannot always see.”
Dr Howe has always been intrigued by biology and medicine. In high school, she read the 1974 book Fever! The Hunt for a new killer virus and “was hooked” on medicine.
