The first time I went in (for this experience) I saw Dr. Sidd. This was just a normal cleaning. He told me I needed a crown and if I didnt get the crown, I would need a root canal. So, second appt, I go in for the crown impression and for him to drill away at my tooth. I didnt think anything of it at that time. Three days later my tooth and jaw are still killing me. I was taking 600-800 mg of ibuprofen 3-4x a day. I thought my tooth was just sore because of the work done. I read up on crowns/root canals and called back telling the office that I wanted referred to an Endodontist because the pain from the tooth was keeping me up at night. Dr. Sidd refused to refer me anywhere. He called in an antibiotic. He never called me back in to get checked out to see if there was another problem. I called again because I needed something for what the antibiotic caused (women will know). His staff said I needed to call my PCP (per him) and have them call me "relife" in.
Still in pain, I called and made an appointment myself to get the root canal. The soonest I could get in to get the canal done was either in Springfield and a month away or in Kansas City, two days later. I decided to make the 4-5 hr trip to get things done. The dentist I visited said I clearly needed a root canal and didnt know why the "professional" failed to fully do his job. I had a follow up appointment at Skidds office. I was not going to see him again. He did NOTHING for me except cause me pain, irritation and $$$.
I saw Dr. Petkovich for my follow up and discussed with him what all had (or had not) gone on. He was so apologetic and told me he definitely would have done things different. He noticed my tooth was abscessed and the antibiotics Skidd gave me had not helped. Dr. P said he would have called me back in for a checkup when I called saying i was still having problems and pain, he would have given me something for the paie, he would have called in a different antibiotic since the one I was taking wasnt helping, he would have called in something for the female issue caused by the antibiotic that wasnt helping. He was compassionate and acted like he was genuinely concerned about the pain and runaround I got from Skidd.
