He attended the University of Florida for his undergraduate education, where he graduated summa cum laude with a degree in neurobiological sciences. He received his medical degree from the University of Florida, where he graduated with honors in research and honors in academic excellence.

During medical school, he was invited to join the University of Florida College of Medicine admissions committee and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He has been invited to present at multiple national and international conferences, including the Global Spine Congress, the International Spinal Deformity Symposium and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

Dr. O’Connor’s approach to patient care is to focus on each individual and provide care that reflects the patient’s own personal goals and values. He emphasizes communication with patients, families, referring physicians and the entire treatment team. He believes that after conservative treatment options are no longer effective, surgery combined with technology and a minimally invasive approach can help achieve the best possible outcome for each patient.
