This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with a "health care professional". Lauro has shown himself to be an uncompassionate, vindictive, and frankly unethical person.

Background: I scheduled an appointment with Lauro, which he canceled on me last minute. I assumed something must have come up for him so I rescheduled. Unfortunately, I forgot to update my calendar and I missed my new appointment. For the next few weeks I tried scheduling multiple appointments, which were all canceled by Lauro last minute without any explanation. After the third time this happened, I reached out to him. Here's the conversation.

Bobby:
Hi Lauro,

I keep trying to schedule appointments and then am notified last minute that my appointment has been canceled without any reason. I was supposed to have one today at 5 EST. This is the third time it has happened to me. Can you tell me why this is happening.

Lauro:
Yes because you did not show up for the last session, did not email or cancel with at least 24 hour notice. THis is agains my no-show policy. I am unable to afford no-shows. If a person doesn't show I lose in two ways. No one else can schedule in that slot and the person who was scheduled didn't show. Thanks L Guzman.

Bobby:
I am deeply upset about the way my appointments have been handled. Initially, you canceled my original appointment, and then it was rescheduled. Unfortunately, I forgot to update my calendar. I have a mental health condition that requires care, and it's been disheartening to have my appointments canceled without any explanation. I was relying on your help and wasn't aware that I needed to find another provider. Managing my ADHD has been challenging, and being blacklisted after missing just one appointment, which I still had to pay for, has been tough.

Hello,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings. This has become a huge problem for medical and metnal health providers as no-shows happen each day. I did not charge you for the missed visit and was not compensated. I don't know who billed you. At some point, providers need to make policies to address the issues they are presented with. Unfortunately, everyone is affected. I believe messages were sent to you with the cancellations, pehaps you did not see them. So sorry you are so upset. I know I was ready and waiting for you for the last scheduled appointment. Plesae make sure to attend you sessions when you schedule with a provider to you can get the help you need.


In conclusion, he was mad I missed an appointment so he cancelled every future appointment I made last minute without giving me any reason. I could have been looking for another provider if he gave me an explanation but it seems he wanted to be vindictive and get back at me for this. A therapist is supposed to be someone you can trust and be open with, not someone who punishes you for exhibiting behaviors indicative of the mental health issues you're seeking help with.
