I was an employee at a Purpose for Living, and let me tell you stay away from this company. I saw all the things that go on around there, they don't screen employees before they hire them as other well respected companies do. When i became their staffer, they were so worried the state was about to audit them, and they had to go thru all the employee lists to do the background checks, many of them had issues with battery, assault, theft, and drug possession. When the owner found out about this, her and the operations manager were struggling to find a way to fire these employees without having them file for unemployment. Well eventually it all worked for them, when they found mistakes made by these people and they were fired. So they got lucky. Their client home visits that should be done every three months were backed up, they stopped doing home visits in October, and when I came in I had to work twice as hard to get these people's signatures, making sure they didn't date those sheets because they were gonna add all the proper dates and signatures later. If an employee called out, and I didn't have anybody to cover that case my job was to cover it myself, and Maxine Shaw (the owner) wells knows her clients were always covered. Employees didn't want to work anymore because they were always having issues with their pay checks. In fact my first check as a staffer, I was missing hours. If you're friends with these people specially the operations manager Wendy Payne, you will never have issues with your checks, if she doesnt like you, trust and believe she will make it hard for you to get your check. She says she follows the rules, but was always bending them for the employees she was friendly with, this really enraged me, she wasn't fair, she always played favorites. This was a major reason why we lost some good employees while I was there. I worked for them, I was a good staffer, Maxine Shaw begged me not to go. I thought she was sincere, when she spoke about the changes that would happen with her company and the possibility for me to grow. But I just wasnt comfortable, i believed all the things that went wrong in her company had nothing to do with her, but rather the small team that had to cover so much. (i thought, i wanted ti trust this company so bad) She even asked me days before my last day if she ever needed me, if it was okay to call me and of course I said yes. I left in good terms, or so I thought. Maxine assured I wouldn't have issues with my check, as well as a board member Mr. VAughn. Well later after I noticed things didn't go as they said, when I received a check for only a couple of hours. I called Maxine and she said they didn't have a "time" sheet for me from my last week. So she said to just send the operations manager another one, and she would send me my check, I'm 100% sure I left that time sheet in the office, but it came up missing, I did as Maxine told me and sent in a new blank sheet of paper, with the dates I worked, and the hours, along with the total, and guess what? She didn't receive that either. I didn't think I need to certify it, I didn't think to keep proof cause I would be denied payment for my time, I trusted these people cause they are Christians, and Maxine is a pastor, and she speaks of God. She gave me her word, and I believed it, I don't believe anything Wendy Paybe says or does, cause I saw how she works, she went as far as to go to clients home and yell at them for leaving the company. So, anyway I filed a complaint with the department of labor, and a purpose for living said they only had proof I worked for 7 hours that last week. And I wish I could get a hold of all the dated paperwork with my signature from that last week I was there to prove my case in court, but since I can't I'm just gonna kiss my hard earned money good bye, and settle by warning others about these people. If you do decide to work with them, cover your behind. Keep proof of what you do, even if they tell you it's illegal, I don't think it is, it doesn't contain any sensitive information, or find away to keep a paper trail of what you do for them. Go to department of labor, know your rights, don't let them fool you. And for those seeking this company as a service provider, good luck to you.

A purpose for living in Aurora Colorado Staff of caregivers should not to be trusted. They show up when they want to, and The caregivers from this provider are thieves. My blind mother had money and Items stolen from her by numerous caregiver from this company. THEY DO NOT DO BACKGROUND CHECK ON CAREGIVERS. If you had something stolen, you're out of luck they will not refund it!!
