I experienced Dr. Gaughan to be incredibly inconsistent and manipulative in his therapeutic style. He openly refused to comply with testing administration standards, he offered one set of fees to one party and a different fee agreement to the other, he could not remember details about the parties from one session to the next (this works in favor of more manipulative and deceptive individuals), and despite coming to an agreement in session, he elected to omit details that had been agreed to and ultimately favored one party of the other. Finally, he admitted to not believing that coercion or control abuse was a real thing and that is just downright scary. He spent the majority of his time discussing how unfair his own divorce proceedings had gone and complaining about gender bias in the courts. He should have lost his license back when the board sanctioned him the first time.
