What is a Certified Nurse Midwife?
Certified Nurse-Midwife. Certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) are licensed healthcare practitioners educated in the two disciplines of nursing and midwifery and are certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board. In New Hampshire CNMs are licensed as a Nurse Practitioner, or Advanced Practicing Registered Nurse, as well as a Certified Nurse Midwife.
They provide primary healthcare to women of childbearing age including: prenatal care, labor and delivery care, care after birth, gynecological exams, newborn care, assistance with family planning decisions, preconception care, menopausal management and counseling in health maintenance and disease prevention.

I am a Certified Nurse Midwife and Advanced Practicing Registered Nurse licensed in the state of New Hampshire. I have been working in the field of womens healthcare since 2004 after graduating from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. I worked as a labor and delivery nurse at a variety of setting ranging from local community hospitals to large high risk maternity centers. During this time I also spent one and a half years working with a licensed midwife as a birth assistant for home births. I completed my midwifery training at the University of Washington in Seattle where I spent five of the seven quarters with out of hospital practices including birth center and home birth practices.What is a Certified Nurse Midwife?

I am accepting clients for well-woman and pregnancy related care seeking homebirths. I also accept clients seeking prenatal care in southern NH who are planning to deliver at a distant hospital and clients seeking home visits during the postpartum period.
