About

Heather Carlile, Counselor

Heather Carlile, a certified LPC Supervisor, whose private practice is in Richardson, TX, specializes in depth psychology and marriage counseling. Her unique transpersonal philosophy, which she uses to relieve anxiety, depression, guilt, anger and grief, integrates archetypes and the Enneagram. She created and co-facilitates Designer Marriage with her husband, Dr. Jack Waldenmaier in classes and on the radio.

Heather Carliles professionalism as a Licensed Professional Counselor is marked by openmindedness, gentle concern, insightful understanding, a sense of humor and practical solutions. Ms. Carlile sees her clients as having the capacity for self-direction and the ability to solve their own problems. Her therapeutic goal is to assist achievement of practical improvements in the lives of her clients according to their individual needs. She treats adults, couples and groups for depression relief, childhood trauma, relationship improvement and grief resolution. She has a special ability to draw out her clients strength and wisdom.

Heathers model for human empowerment balances six interdependent areas for health: physical, instinctual, emotional, mental, spiritual and relational. She advocates that society currently over-values mental or intellectual aspects, thereby neglecting mature, balanced experience and expression on the other levels of being.

A message from Heather:
Go to my website to see my Designer Marriage Model. There are 16 elements to help you create a checklist or goals for the next steps you want to take to enrich what I believe is the foundation of happiness and successyour marriage or intimate relationship!

You will also find there information from my wok with Grief Recovery:
Emotional pain is not a sickness. Feeling sad, angry, guilty and afraid is mourning. It is our natural and healthy emotional response to traveling the unpredictable path through loss, discouragement, disempowerment and adversity. Emotions show us what we care about and they guarantee that we move forward. Grieving ensures that we heal from our losses and wounds through letting go, accepting the loss and facing the future.

About Parenting and Childhood Disempowerment:
Sometimes I think: If we were good parents, I wouldnt have a job.

So much of our capabilities in life and in our relationships are either fostered or damaged by our parents and their behaviors when we are learning and growing. Even in the first year of life our emotional illiteracy is fostered by a fear of others rather than the healthy feeling of being bonded and safe with people and the world.

Manager to Mentor: Adapting Your Parenting to Your Childrens Growth Through the loving and discerning guidance of authoritative parenting and mentoring , children learn they are safe, taught and treasured.

The parent takes the role of the adultthe mature and responsible person who has the power and wisdom to keep a home environment and family relationships happy and healthy. (See Heathers Healthy House Rules on the website Communication page.)

When our children move into adolescence at around 13, our role as the caring adults around them moves gradually from being the Manager in their lives to being the Mentor.

As our brains develop, we naturally grow our abilities in all of the areas of human potential. However, if we arent provided with the materials, resources and oportunites to grow, we can be stunted, wounded, ignorant and/or damaged in our abilities to form an identity, relationships and a career.

I created my own developmental model so we can quickly touch base with the roots of success and the roots of disempowerment. Then, another model to help us think about getting what we need, now, as adults for success and fulfillment.

As you know, if you have spoken with me, my best tool is the Enneagram; it makes me about 70% faster in the beginning (answers lots of questions I dont have to take the time to ask).
Theres a link above to the test page.
It just costs $10 per person online at the Enneagram Institute and theres alot of info free online about the Types and in my own Enneagram Study Guide. Please answer ALL 144 questions so that I have a good point spread. It will take about 40 to 50 minutes to answer all of the questions.
Youll find a great deal of information on the nine Enneatypes on the Enneagram Institute website. I look forward to helping you understand your Enneatype and/or how the Enneatypes both help and hinder your relationships.
Enjoy!
