I cant believe the dinner they served the day I was there. I wouldn't have fed any of it to my dog. I am not exaggerating one bit. Some of the staff were very rude. some were very friendly. I hate Nursing Homes. (U.S.A- the only place in the world with Nursing Homes.

I am disappointed at how helpful the staff are when I call with my questions and concerns. Most of the CNAs are very helpful, but the Director of Nursing always puts off an air like you're interrupting her day by asking questions. She does not return phone calls reliably to the point that I no longer call - I just show up and find someone to answer questions. They were somewhat easy to reach in an emergency. They don't always answer the calls, and they seem to leave it up to the family to keep calling back instead of calling the family back. Most of these types of places have a really bad smell, but I didn't notice a bad odor here.

They do offer a variety of food options and activities. The place always looks neat and clean, no matter what time of day we're there. They have the individual rooms on a cleaning rotation, so if your loved one is messy, it is possible for that room to look unkempt for a few days. I don't fault the staff for that - my loved one has never been good about picking up after herself and I don't think it's their job to clean her room daily.

Staff don't often encourage independence in the residents. They usually do as much as they can for the residents instead of encouraging them to do what they can for themselves. This might seem like a nice thing and I believe it's done out of concern for the residents. However, if your loved one is working with therapy with the intention of returning home, not following the physical therapist's recommendations actually sets the patient back further.

If the DON had a better attitude and was better about returning calls and the staff were better about fostering independent behavior in residents, I'd rate this at least a 4.5/5.
