I've owned many pets in the past (mostly birds and cats) and have always brought them to the clinic even when I moved across the valley and it was a bit inconvenient. They really are the only clinic I trust. They always make an extra effort to make me feel respected and attended to. They always listen to every question or concern I may have. I would never feel unsafe or apprehensive in their care. I love that I can count on them to work with me until they find a solution for my situation. They were able to provide me everything they promised me. I've never doubted their abilities. Their concern for my pet's well being is always apparent, and I appreciate that.

WARNING- Do not take your animal to this vet clinic! I wish I’d read a review like this before I took my cat to this vet clinic. Spring of this year (2011) I took him in for a routine procedure (dental cleaning) and they administered a sedative before anesthesia which stopped his heart. At seven years old with no preexisting conditions, my cat died in their care. Since then, I’ve consulted with a half a dozen vets about what happened. All of them discourage using what is known as a “kitty cocktail” dexdomitor and ketamine. Ketamine is NON-REVERSIBLE! If I had only known that Blacksmith Fork Clinic’s normal protocol includes giving medication that sometimes stops an animal’s heart, and that they use this medication even in standard procedures (not only for life threatening surgeries, etc) and also unnecessarily (as I now know there are several other safer drug combinations to use on cats).
When the vet called me to tell me that my cat had died 45 minutes after I brought him, her attitude was blasé. She inquired into his health status and upon verification from me again (besides on the intake form) that he was perfectly healthy, she noted that this was strange. Upon further discussion she acknowledged that this has happened several times before under her care. While this might have been a terrible accident, the vets’ response to what happened was unacceptable, unprofessional and reprehensible. As far as I know, they have not altered their course of action, in spite of an unnecessary high rate of mortality. In addition, since this happened I’ve talked to a few other people in the Cache Valley area and they have also “lost” their pets while at this clinic. This includes dogs and horses. I wouldn’t bring an insect into this clinic. The vets in this clinic need to be held accountable for their actions and lack of actions. I hope that this review will save the life of an innocent animal.
