I've never had a therapist who was so stunningly unskilled, especially in the first meeting. She clearly wanted us to adapt to her style, as opposed to adapting to ours, even though her website says "My clients appreciate my collaborative approach" and that she has "a commitment to tailor my sessions to your unique needs and goals."

She made a lot of assumptions; within the first ten minutes of the meeting she had already decided that I was antagonistic, unable to communicate, and overly sensitive to feedback. She asked me leading questions in order to get me to say what she wanted me to say. For instance, she asked if I thought that only my partner needed to work on communication skills (completely false).

She was condescending. At the end of the session she said, "my style is very direct, I don't think that will work for you" when my partner and everyone who knows me knows that I'm a very direct person. When I pointed out that she was being condescending, she became even more condescending, saying "I know you see it that way, but that's not how it really is."

However, the one success of the day was that she brought my partner and I together in how much we agreed that she was terrible.

This counselor is full of mental health problems of her own. She does not live with her own husband and children and has multiple family problems of her own, including a child who has been in programs and drug rehab, yet offers counseling to others? She is hateful, and very disliked in her personal life, and all this comes out in her counseling sessions toward her clients. She is very unprofessional and scary.
