The staff is very friendly, the office is clean and I did not wait very long. However I had to wait many weeks for my first appointment. The office never answers the phone, you have to leave a message, period.
The doctor doesn't bother to say hello or introduce himself. No explanation about my condition, plan of action, no goals were set. He came highly recommended, but this provider is not for me. From everything I heard he is a good surgeon, but since his communication skills are so poor I feel I am better of with somebody else. No, I can't recommend this doctor.

On Oct 21,2009 Dr Martz performed a lumbar laminectomy and fusion on my spine at L4-L5. I am a 68 year old male in good health. I had been diagnosed with severe stenosis and instability at L4-L5. I had lived for several years with increasing leg and lumbar spine pain. Prior to my surgery I interviewed the three best neurosurgeons in my area based on testimonials from patients, information from nurses and experiences gathered from friends who had personal or relative's experiences with the neuro- and orthopedic surgeions in my area. I found that Dr Martz's name came up over and over. The people I spoke to had high regard for his technical ability as well as his low infection rate. I had heard that his "bedside manner" was lacking, but he spent nearly an hour with me discussing my condition and his recommended surgical solution. I found it interesting that, of the three surgeons who made my "short list" two offered the same diagnosis and recommnded sugery, while the third recommended a more agressive surgery (multi-level laminectomy). I of course went with the consensus. It has been 6 weeks since my surgery and I am walking 2 to 3 miles per day and have no leg pain. My back pain which was so debilitating for several years has been reduced by at least 80%. I would recommend Dr. Martz to anyone who needs and wants one of the very best spine surgeons in the area.
