Michael Cairns M.D. is among the highest regarded infectious disease specialists in the country. He is the highest rated ID specialist among doctors and patients. When I was diagnosed with endocarditis, an infection of the valves in the heart, my primary care physician referred me to Dr. Cairns. Due to the urgency of the situation Dr. Cairns stayed late so I could be evaluated the same day I flew into Seattle. While I was panicked at the diagnosis and treatment (including possible open heart surgery) he remained calm and explained in detail what to expect. He spent well over an hour discussing the realities I was facing and dispelling my fears. I left the office knowing that I was in the best hands and would receive the best care. In the end his quick thinking and expertise saved my life and from having open heart surgery that other doctors had said was inevitable. I am healthy, active and thankful. I not only trust Dr. Cairns with my my treatment but would trust him in treating anyone in my family. He’s just that good.
