The Doctor was insistent that I get the needle prick test on my back. I am a RN of 15 years, I know my body and have been on the same meds for the last ten years. I did not want the test nor the injections, but the doctor spoke over me and attempted to corner me into getting the test. When the LPN arrived I said I did not want to have the test done. Approx 40 needle pricks with allergen drops applied and then the office mixes the med for injections, their primary source of income. The doctor entered the room agressively and kicked the stool into the wall so hard, making a loud bang, I was surprise there was not a hole in the wall. Frightening my 9yr old son, I stated, "you don't have to get angry because I don't want to take the test, I don't mean to anger you doctor." The doctor talks with a very loud voice and after a couple minutes, calmed and wrote my scripts and gave me samples upon my request. Would I return no, should I report this man to the board? yes. What should he do? Listen to the patient and not be concerned about the ICD-9 code he uses to bill. What an ass, as an older doctor feels that in today's world the power has been stripped by pharmaceutical companies, insurances, and nurse practitioners, so when one enters the room and starts demanding tests be done, ask yourself, is this test necessary and why exactly am I here in the first place. Looking at this man's dark tan I have to state, he was certainly not concerned about melanoma.
