Andrew Ashikari, MD, FACS, is a nationally acclaimed surgical oncologist with over 25 years of clinical practice in the New York metropolitan region. Dr. Ashikari's state-of-the-art care includes nipple-sparing mastectomy, a procedure he says enhances cosmetic outcome and provides effective medical benefit for women with breast cancer or who want to reduce hereditary risk. His expertise in this surgery is unparalleled-his team has performed some of the highest volumes of nipple sparing mastectomies than any breast center in the world. "I wanted to be a doctor from a young age," says Dr. Ashikari, who was inspired by his physician father. "He started his breast cancer practice in Westchester back when there really was no such thing as a breast surgery practice." Dr. Ashikari completed a surgical oncology fellowship at the University of Chicago and an internship and general surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He then served as director of the Ashikari Breast Center in Dobbs Ferry and Cortlandt Manor, NY, before joining Northwell Health Physician Partners Breast Care Center at Northern Westchester Hospital and Physician Partners Breast Surgery at Phelps in 2021. Dr. Ashikari works with a highly skilled, interdisciplinary team, including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists and genetic specialists to develop individualized treatment plans. Patients can promptly receive imaging, biopsy, surgical consultation, medical and radiation oncology consultations, and genetic information-all without leaving their community.Dr. Ashikari is widely published and has completed research on a variety of topics and clinical protocols, including breast cancer, prevention for high-risk patients, breast reconstruction, implants, and intraoperative radiotherapy. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology, the New York Surgical Society, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the New York Metropolitan Breast Group and the American Society of Breast Surgeons.When it comes to his patients, Dr. Ashikari says it's all about exceptional expertise-and a personal touch.
