I was successfully treated for a severe case of pneumonia recently by Dr David Green. He is highly experienced and knowledgeable, and I would strongly recommend him to others for any pulmonary problems.

Here are some details. I'm a retired 74 year old male. In December 2012, I contracted pneumonia. Dr Noor Roomi, my PCP at Concord Hillside branch of Harvard Vanguard Associates, prescribed the usual antibiotic for pneumonia. When after two weeks there was not the slightest improvement, she referred me to Dr Green, a highly respected pulmonolgist.

Dr Green asked me to try the same antibiotic for a couple of weeks more. When I didn't get any better, and the xrays showed no change over the 4 weeks, he considered (momentarily) getting me a strong antibiotic intravenously -- in a hospital setting. And I commend him for his hesitation, and reasons, as explained later.

He decided instead to do a CT Scan of the chest. That too did not reveal any specific bacteria or virus or fungus. A mystery! Next step: a bronchoscopy. It was performed a week later by his partner Dr Barkin. The culture from the biopsy revealed the culprit! The pneumonia was caused by a "staph infection." I understand that it's a virulent type of bacteria that has developed resistance to several types of antibiotics and is prevalent invariably in HOSPITALS!

Incidentally, I was hospitalized from December 1 to 5, 2012 at Emerson and then at Beth Israel due to a different matter. Dr Green is certain that that's where I contracted this deadly "staph" bacteria. And that is why I commend Dr Green for his wisdom for the course he took, and not sending me to the hospital for the intravenous antibiotic he briefly considered. After all, at that time I had lost 22 lbs (15%) of my 150 lbs normal weight. I was very weak, especially (I'm sure) in my immune system. In that condition, a hospitalization would have been very risky, very dangerous.

Dr Green prescribed an antibiotic meant specifically for this very dangerous bacteria. After a 6-week course, Dr Green pronounced on March 25, 2013 that my pneumonia was completely cured. My xray showed everything was clear. I have regained 50% of the weight I had lost and am on the road to full recovery.

For me, at my age, two recent stories in the news have scared me about what complications of pneumonia can mean. Former president George H.W. Bush was hospitalized for two months. And the hero of Desert Storm, Gen. Norman Schwartzkopf (sp?), died in Florida from complications of pneumonia.

Therefore, I'm very grateful to Dr David Green for his experience, skill, good judgment and wisdom for taking the right actions and saving my life. I would recommend him unreservedly to anyone with pulmonary problems.

It was nice to hear how much the staff respected them. It made me that much more confident that I was under the care of a professional. I was completely at ease during my appointment here. They went to great lengths to make sure I was completely relaxed and comfortable the entire time. They really go above and beyond to make me feel special. I've never been anywhere that seems to care more about their clients than here. Their primary concern is my safety and comfort, and they always take the time to address every concern of mine immediately. I've always appreciated how flexible they are with their appointment times. They're willing to work with me and my schedule to figure out a time that's convenient for me.
