Dr. Charlie Peterson is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a special interest in sports medicine, including complex shoulder and knee problems and restoration. Dr. Peterson has been in practice for over 12 years in the Seattle area, and has extensive experience in general orthopedics, including trauma and fracture care, and total joint replacement of the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee.

Dr. Peterson completed his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine, where he graduated magna cum laude and was involved in several research projects in the orthopedic and internal medicine fields. While there, he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, a prestigious medical school honor society. Dr. Peterson went on to complete orthopedic residency training at the Mayo Clinic, widely regarded as one of the premier orthopedic institutions in the world.

Dr. Peterson subsequently completed a specialty fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. During this time, he was a team physician for the New York Mets, New York Giants, the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), and St. Johns University. This gave him extensive experience treating all types of injuries and athletes, from professionals to weekend warriors. Currently, Dr. Peterson is proud to provide volunteer medical services to the Mercer Island High School football team.

A Seattle native, Dr. Peterson resides on Mercer Island with his wife and two children. They enjoy the hiking, kayaking and skiing that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. If not practicing orthopedic medicine, one would likely find Dr. Peterson on the sidelines of his childrens sporting events, or traipsing around Seattle with his camera, looking for the perfect photographic subject.

Very quick to recommend surgery. Does not help with pain. Get a second opinion. Once in examing room wait time can be very long with no one informing you of why. Does not explain things well. If you are in the least overweight do not see him. Will tell you that is your problem.
