I was warned about this practice by others where I work, but it was one of the few accepting new patients at the time. On the day of my appointment, I was unavoidably detained at work, which made me quite late for the appointment. I called the office, apologizing profusely for any problems I had caused, saying that I was on my way over to pay for my appointment anyway, and I would like to reschedule. The receptionist turned me over to another woman who told me that they have a "zero tolerance policy for such nonsense" and they are too busy for patients as irresponsible as me. I find this to be a drastic overreaction toward a patient who is making a good faith effort not to allow the situation to adversely affect the doctor's practice/business. I can only hope, for their sake, that their patients are far more gracious when the doctor of his staff make a mistake.
