If you are going for a check-up, cold, flu, physical, you'll be golden. No problems there... but when I went in to discuss prescription options for ongoing mental illnesses, he gave me one single option, and did not seem interested in any other medicine. He suggested an SSRI (for depression, anxiety/panic disorders and suicidal thoughts) which is not uncommon for my symptoms, but I already suspected he would suggest it after I had seen quite a few pamphlets for it stashed around the office.
He did not have a good demeanor and seemed very cold, and told me an outrageous lie on how quickly the drug would be effective (being on many SSRI's before, I am fully aware the effects take weeks to achieve), stating that in 1-2 days I would begin to feel better, and if in 4 days my symptoms did not improve, to DOUBLE the dosage (which after going to a seperate doctor for a second opinion, he explained to me how dangerous that could be given the suicidal thoughts could drastically increase if I were to have such a high dosage withought first monitoring the effects, as it is one of the main side effects of the medication).
I believe he did not care about my current situation, and questioned the severity of it, and was expecting a placebo effect in a few days, or that I would get over the tradgedy in a few days and think the SSRI was doing its job (which is not medically possible in such a small time span, I even mentioned it and researched after the fact to be sure, although a placebo effect is possible it seems very irresponsible to put me at risk like that and not warn me of the dangers, even after I asked questions).
He also decided to all insult me on how I am dealing with recent tradgedy, stating "If you look back at this in 20 years, you will feel stupid, like you were acting like a stupid youth".
I went there to discuss a prescription plan, and ended up being lied too and treated poorly, and not even being able to discuss options, because I am just a stupid young adult who has no idea how to discuss multiple treatment plans with his doctor. I will never go here again, I had been a patient there for many years and this was not the first time I had trouble discussing treatment options, I had to get my prescribed medications through a psychiatrist before this, but since I have no insurance that was no longer an option. Completely unprofessional, you should NEVER lie to your patients, even if you believe it to be a WHITE lie.
