Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: I became interested in a medical career at a young age. I started volunteering at WellSpan York Hospital when I was in high school. My biology teacher sparked my interest, and I pursued a biology degree in undergraduate studies with intent to go to medical school. However, by my senior year I was thinking a mid-level path was better for my long term goals. I took some time off after school and returned to York. I did additional training and became an EMT in the city of York. I learned more about the physician assistant profession and applied eventually attending Emory in Atlanta.
