Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: I initially set out to be a laboratory scientist earning an MS and PhD. During my time with the department of surgery at the University of Tennessee performing trauma/critical care research, I realized I preferred the personal connection physicians had with patients than performing laboratory work as a scientist. Thus, I decided to attend medical school. What I want my patients to know about me: Originally from Baltimore, I received my medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed my orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center and R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
